SecureLogin has been offering the possibility to control the access to online applications by using IP-based location restrictions. At first this was only possible at user level, but recently we enabled this for groups as well.
There has been a trend towards more login sessions from outside the office. We help offices in allowing this flexibility, yet ensuring security at the same time. For a growing number of users it is relevant to combine location independent access with specify IP restrictions. Deny access from public or uncontrolled networks, or to make it more secure? Think about interns who log-in at their school, or sales employees signing-in at a customer.
On the other hand, there is also the need for easy accessibility when one works at a trusted location. “Why would we need to login at our office and still use an Authenticator or SMS code?”
SecureLogin now offers two options to enable IP restrictions at group level:
1. Trusted IP-zone
Using this setting you log in without an Authenticator or SMS code from a trusted IP-address. Outside this IP-zone you still have to sign in using the Authenticator or SMS code. This offers the possibility to easily log in at the office, and yet to be protected when logging in at external locations.
2. Restricted IP-zone
Using this setting you control the locations on a group level. The IP-addresses set for the group serve as an restriction for all users within the group. The user can no longer sign in from this IP-address. This also applies when a user is part of more than one group. In the end this enables the possibility to get more control over the locations where a user can log in.
